Mindy Dahnerhardt was once well on her way to being one of the west coast's top surgeons - she had everything; the skills, the drive, the enthusiasm. But when her peers at medical school began to notice she was a little too enthusiastic, (and after several incidents involving what she insisted was just extracurricular practice on the cadavers) her scholarship was quickly terminated. With most of her prospects for fulfilling legal employment dashed, what else could she do but try to apply her skills in a less strictly-regulated market?
Now, say you're a gangleader, and you've just got your hands on the rat that tried to sell you out. Or you're a high-end street doc, and some poor bastard couldn't make his last payment on the cyberware you so generously sold him. What do you do? Sure, you could just shoot him in the face, but what if you really want to send a message? Then you get him nice and wrapped up in a bow, you ship him off to Mindy the Butcher, and you try not to think about the rest.
Not that she doesn't offer more "traditional" surgeries as well. But Mindy Dahnerhardt is very insistent on two key principles: service comes with a smile, and anesthetic costs extra.
Mindy is a short, round-faced little meatball of a woman, with a plump body and noodly limbs. Also, she's like, top-percentile cute - big round blue eyes, a button nose, squiggly pigtails, adorable squishable cheeks, the whole works. Very intense energy, like if the concept of "standing just a little too close to you" was a person. She tends to favour comfy-cute clothing, with lots of light greys and faded pastels. Other notable features are a cyberhand (which resembles a slightly off-colour normal hand, with decorative "staples" where it joins the wrist) and prominent scars on her forehead and neck (though she tries to keep them covered). Otherwise, in a world of extremes, she's just offputtingly normal.
|Is... Is this still warm?||Mindy offers an array of previously-loved goods. Any cyber + bioware bought through her will always be of 'used' quality (or the lowest quality possible). When buying any other type of gear from her, roll a 1d6. On a 1, it has some feature linking it to the previous owner, such as a custom engraving or RFID chip.|
|Hippocratic Oath||"Do No Harm" may not apply to her, but it certainly applies to you. Bringing Mindy damaged goods before she can have her fun means a big pay cut. Additionally, she will only sell drugs to you if she thinks you actually need them. Healthy body, healthy mind.|
|Anesthetic Costs Extra||Mindy's clinic is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bliss). If you haven't taken anything to put you under, roll to resist stun damage equal to half your new 'ware's availability. This cannot overflow into physical damage. If your stun track is filled, you instead gain the negative quality Flashbacks I (Medical Equipment).|
|Lovesick||If Mindy likes you, she wants to spend time with you. A lot of time. If you have a loyalty of 5 or more with her, she will stall for as long as possible whenever you call in a favour, just so she can listen to your voice some more.|
|Med School Dropout||Mindy still has access to most of her medical supplies from her brief time in medical school. She takes a +2 dicepool bonus on performing medical procedures, and on sourcing drugs.|
|Body Bank||You want body parts, real or artificial? Your lovely darling friend Mindy's got you covered, no questions asked. +2 on gear acquisition rolls for 'ware (and metahuman meat).|
|Second S(k)IN||Mindy's got access to legal SINs if you want 'em. Act quick before the previous owners are listed as missing or dead in the system, though.|
|Makeshift Operating Theatre||Mindy rents a soundproofed storage unit out near the Redmond Barrens, full of tarps, zip ties, and power tools. She gains a +2 dicepool bonus to all Active (First-Aid, Medical, Intimidation, or Artisan) checks made within it.|
|Humanitarian Interest||Mindy doesn't just accept Nuyen, you know. If you're replacing meat with tech, she takes an extra +2 dicepool on cyberware acquisition and installation, so long as she can keep the leftover parts of you. Just don't ask what she wants them for.|
|Friends in Low Places||Mindy's clientele are a very specific bunch. She has a +2 bonus to Knowledge or Networking checks pertaining to anyone particularly unforgiving, brutal, or just plain sadistic.|
|Very Polite Young Lady||Aww! Mindy has a +2 dicepool bonus on Ettiquite checks.|
|Super Fragging Unnerving||Oh Jesus Christ. Mindy also has a +2 dicepool bonus on Intimidation (Torture) and Intimidation (Interrogation) checks.|
|Clingy||Mindy always goes the extra mile for her "friends", whether they want her to or not. Expect her to put in the legwork if you have 5 or more loyalty with her.|
