The Deceiver, the Many-Faced God, the Lord of Change, it had many names, but the Raven had always been enough. It had given James power and a supernatural glibness of the tongue, and all it asked in return was a listening ear. And so, since that day, every time he saw someone in distress, or down on their luck, the voice told him to use them, break them until they were nought but a tool. The truly sad part was that he even gave in some times.

Summary

A Mystic adept Dryad face

Goals

Make a lot of money, get a high lifestyle, gain power and influence, and if possible retire to a life of wealth and power.

Background

James and his sister, Alice, were born to shadowrunners. It was quite a good life. Their parents were well off, and the team all helped take care of them. They still have fond memories of the times Frag! Grenade babysat them, and how he was always embarrassed about his vulgar name, or when High Tide allowed them to take a ride in his souped-up van, telling them pirate tales and singing them sea shanties, although his sister was six years younger and doesn’t remember as much. They loved their parents most of all, though. A mage named Feu d'Artifice and a decker called L33T_5P34K5_5TUP1D, but like all tales of happiness in the shadows, it couldn't last. L33T worked from home, which was great, as it meant they didn't need to be babysat while the team was on a run. Not this time, though. James still has vivid memories of the day when he walked into his mother's room. He even remembers the exact questions he wanted help with. He also remembers the way blood flowed freely from every orifice on his mothers face, and the way her cold, dead eyes looked in the glow of a screen. He also remembers crying as he held the door closed, making sure Alice, who was only six at the time, didn’t see what had happened.

None of them returned, and so James did the only thing that came to mind. He packed a bag of everything he thought they'd need, including picking up every cradstick in the house, grabbed Alice, and ran. And so they dissapeared into the city, squatting in abandoned building for years until James had made enough contacts and earned enough money to buy them a decent home in Bellevue, get them fake SINs and get Alice schooling.

Along the way, James has done everything he could to give the two of them everything they’d need. A home, school for Alice, food on the table. But it couldn’t all be done within the bound of white morality, and so he’d lied, cheated, and even made a deal with the devil. Maybe even literally, depending on your interpretation of things.

But it didn’t matter, for there was only one thing that mattered, and he’d lie, cheat, and break the fucking laws of physics until he got the peace and happiness they were owed.
